Algunos, prisioneros de las leyes de la
fotografía, queremos escapar e ir mas allá,
tocarlo todo con tal de provocar sensaciones y pensamientos a
través de pinturas y materiales, aunque sea por simple
disfrute propio. Ahora quiero ir un poco mas lejos y conocer
que pensamientos producen mis obras en otros observadores.
Mostrar estas obras de locura en la conciencia planetaria
(internet) es un paso mas en mi experimento.
Nací en la isla de Mallorca en 1965.
Estudie fotografía en la Escuela de Artes Aplicadas y
Oficios Artísticos de Palma, actualmente Escuela
Superior de Diseño.
Empecé a trabajar en
preimpresión en el gremio de las artes gráficas
antes que ejercer como fotógrafo. He ido alternando mi
ocupación profesional en varias empresas; imprentas,
editoriales y agencias de publicidad. Como freelance
compartí estudio con Vicente Negre durante unos
años.
Al margen de los encargos profesionales,
siempre he ido produciendo obras por satisfacción
propia, manteniendo una especie de dialogo con migo mismo y con
mi entorno. Para ello he usado tanto la fotografía como
la pintura, incluso la cerámica y la escultura.
Las montañas, el desierto y el mar
han sido mis principales protagonistas. Contemplar la belleza
de las dunas o la inmensidad desde las altas cumbres es para mi
una manera de mirar a nuestro planeta sin interferencias. Es en
estos lugares donde percibo la sensación de libertad con
mas intensidad.
La fascinación que siento por la
naturaleza se debe en gran medida a los documentales de
Félix Rodríguez de La Fuente y Jacques Ives
Cousteau, filmaciones que seguía con pasión en mi
infancia.
Paralelamente a mi faceta naturalista,
existe un mundo surrealista en el que todo es posible. Esta
fantasía ha sido alimentada por las obras de muchos
artistas provenientes del cómic, la ilustración,
la pintura y la fotografía, tales como Jim Burns, Boris
Vallejo, Syd Mead, Richard Corben, Salvador Dalí, HR
Giger, Jerry Uelsmann, Juan Jiménez, entre otros.
El cine de ciencia ficción
también a ejercido su poder; Las sagas de La Guerra de
las Galaxias y Star trek, la película Blade Runer y la
serie televisiva Cosmos de Carl Sagan son también
responsables de mis delirios.
Actualmente trabajo como fotógrafo
en la agencia de publicidad Comunicación Creativa, en
Mallorca, donde comparto mi vida con Rosana, mi mujer, quien se
ha convertido en los últimos años en una
excelente fotógrafo submarino.

A chosen few – those of us who feel
imprisoned by the laws of photography – have a desire to
break free and transgress former barriers, touching everything
in order to stimulate feelings and thoughts through paintings
and materials, albeit simply for our own enjoyment. Now I would
like to go a little further, and discover what thoughts my
works produce in other observers. Displaying these works of
madness on the planetary conscience (Internet) is yet another
stage of my experiment.
I was born on the island of Mallorca in
1965. I studied photography in the School of Applied Arts and
Artistic Trades in Palma, currently known as the Advanced
School of Design.
I began working in pre-printing in the
field of graphic arts before becoming a photographer.
Throughout my professional career I have alternated work in
several different companies – printers’,
publishers’ and advertising agencies. As a freelance
photographer, I shared a studio with Vicente Negre for several
years.
Quite aside from my professional projects,
I have always produced works for my own satisfaction,
maintaining a kind of dialogue with myself and my surroundings.
To do so, I have used both photography and painting, and even
resorted to ceramics and sculpture.
Mountains, desert and sea have always been
the main features of my works. Contemplating the beauty of
dunes, or the immensity of the highest peaks, is to my mind a
way of looking at our planet without interference. It is here,
in these places, where I am able to feel the most intense
sensation of freedom.
My fascination for nature stems largely
from the documentaries of Félix Rodríguez de La
Fuente and Jacques-Yves Cousteau, programmes I followed
passionately as a child.
Parallel to my naturalist facet, there is
also a surrealist world, where everything is possible. This
fantasy has been fed by many artists in the fields of comics,
illustrations, paintings and photography, such as Jim Burns,
Boris Vallejo, Syd Mead, Richard Corben, Salvador Dalí,
HR Giger, Jerry Uelsmann and Juan Jiménez, among others.
Science fictions films have also exerted
their influence on me: the Star Wars and Star Trek sagas, Blade
Runner and the TV series Cosmos, by Carl Sagan, are also
responsible for my deliria.
I currently work as a photographer in the
advertising agency Comunicación Creativa, on Mallorca.
Here I share my life with my wife Rosana, who has become an
excellent underwater photographer over recent years.
